In September of 2011, I had the pleasure of attending and photographing the marriage of my good friend Vanessa, to her now husband, Pat. The simple ceremony under the Colorado sky, with friends and family freely surrounding the couple, was like nothing I had been a part of until that time. Their vows were incredibly personal, unique, hilarious, and heart-felt. Capping the night off dancing with friends who hadn’t been in the same room for nearly year, it was a day that showed me how a bond between two people can truly affect those around them, and how incredible it really is.
Simplicity in weddings is something I find to be quite endearing. A quiet, intimate wedding day can often amplify the feelings of love, joy, and excitement that permeate the surrounding atmosphere. Mallory and Jess’s day culminated with a small ceremony under the Ladies’ Pavilion in Central Park, surrounded by their closest family and friends, whose happiness and caring for the couple was easily apparent. The delighted faces of the park-goers passing by added an extra bit of warmth to the sunny, Spring day. It was such a joy to be able to be a part of their union, and I wish them all the best as they start their new life together.
